Who They Are
Lindsey Kay founded Paws and Stripes in 2010 after her ex-husband, an Army veteran, came home from combat with post-traumatic stress disorder and a traumatic brain injury.
She saw how therapy dogs visiting the hospital had such an impact on him that she began to pursue getting him a service dog. This turned out to be filled with obstacles involving dogs and training that often costs $10,000 to $60,000 and isn’t covered by insurance.
So, an idea was born: Lindsey set out to create a non-profit organization to help veterans for free.
